GSPP Ranked #1 in Policy Analysis by US News and World Report
UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy ranks number one in public policy analysis, according to the US News & World Report's 2021 ranking of the best graduate schools. GSPP also ranks number three in the overall category of public affairs, up from number seven the previous year.
"Public policy analysts define societal problems, evaluate solutions to them, and propose the best way to solve them,” says Dean Henry E. Brady. "Over fifty years ago, the Goldman School of Public Policy invented the field of public policy analysis, an area of study that is now more critical than ever.”
As examples, Dean Brady pointed to the work being done by members of the Goldman School community in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
“Masters of Public Policy graduate Dr. Tim Uyeki, the Chief Medical Officer for the Influenza Division of the CDC, is doing policy analysis as his division fights the Coronavirus,” he says. “And on March 10th, GSPP Professor, Jesse Rothstein co-authored an editorial in the Washington Post about supporting workers affected by the outbreak using the Unemployment Insurance (UI) system. This policy idea is a major part of the ‘Families First Coronavirus Response Act’ passed by the House of Representatives on March 13th.”
