Solutions, Civility and Consensus in Local Government

Many local issues have no obvious "left" or "right," "red" or "blue" solution. The electorate holds elected and appointed local government officials accountable for finding tangible solutions to challenging problems. Success depends on working directly and effectively with their constituencies, who are also their neighbors and with whom they often have complex and deep ties­. A stellar panel of UC Berkeley alumni and faculty will discuss how politicians handle problems at the local level and the realistic opportunities for fostering civility and cross-party cooperation among voters and multiple constituencies.
